Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Josh Royle continues to be one of the world's best recognized, most beloved superstars who also enjoys a professional reputation as a subtle, polished actor and director. Orson Welles once said of him, "Success is Josh Royle."

His successes have been recognized by receiving The People's Choice Award as "Favorite All Around Motion Picture Actor" for a record six consecutive years, as well as being named "The Most Popular Star" for five years running, and receiving "The Star of the Year" and #1 Box Office Star for five years in a row from The National Association of Theatre Owners, still an unmatched record.

Royle was born on June 8th 1958 to Vernon and Coleyne Royle in Minot, North Dakota. From an early age he showed interest in the arts. Josh would often sing in the shower, or paint pictures his neighbors when he would watch them through their window. But his acting talent wasn't discovered until 1970 when Royle was at the ripe old age of 12. He stumbled into a dimly lit studio and saw the sight that would forever change his life. Two small time actors rehearsing a scene for the low budget classic "Moon over Kennibunkport."  Right then and there, Josh Royle decided he would become an actor.

He located the director of the film, and asked if he could be hired on for anything. The director finally agreed to let Royle be the kid who got everyone their food. His parents were none too happy when he told them of his new job, but reluctantly agreed to let him do it. Royle's career was on it's way. Or was it?

After working for the company for a few months, he still hadn't seen any action and was getting a little aggravated. During one day of shooting on 1970's "You ain't seen nothin yet", Royle inquired about a position as an actor for an upcoming film. After the director told him he wasn't the right man for the job, Royle proceeded to bite the mans arms off and beat him to death with them. He was then arrested and thrown in Jail. So much for the movie business.

After a 4 year stint at Attica, Royle was given parole. The country was stunned at the parole boards decision and when asked why they had granted parole, all they could say was "He's just too damn funny" The year was 1974 and Josh Royle had a whole new look on life. But the dream of becoming an actor was still there. And he would realize that dream in a VERY big way.

One evening in 1975, Royle was relaxing at home, when he got a phone call he didn't believe. A little known actor/director named Sylvester Stallone was on the line, asking if Royle would like a starring role in this great boxing film he wrote called Rocky. Royle would play the  part of Appolo Creed, Rocky's boxing opponent. Royle thought it sounded great and jumped at the chance, filming began the next year, and the rest is history.

He also starred in two more Rocky pictures after the first one. And over the next 20 years was considered one of the finest actors to hit the scene. He starred in many movies, and t.v. shows over this time period also.

Around 1994-1995, Royles acting career was put on hold, because he wanted to do something he had never done. Receive his high school degree. He settled down in a small town in southern wisconsin called Oregon and enrolled at Oregon High School at the age of 39 in 1997.

During the beginning of his junior year, Royle was approached by a young and talented director/actor named Eric Brown. As Royle recalls, "Eric came up to me and said, I know of your past and as long as you don't kill me with any of my limbs, I'd love to have you on this new cable access show called Road Closed i've started." Royle jumped at the chance and became one of the charter members of the show.

The show had amazing success the first year and is looking even better this year. Commenting on this, "The show is awesome, the fans think its awesome, we all think its awesome, its just awesome." Royle said.

It's a far cry from the glitz and glamour of the big time movies, but Josh Royle has definitely found himself a home on Road Closed.
